What is the Ruta Cemi?

Like almost all-important projects in life, the Cemi Route has come to life from a dream, from the illusion of two friends who pursuit to show the beauty of the land that has welcomed us and to make it compatible with the sport we love, Mountain Bike.

Let me introduce ourselves, we are Germán and Jordi, two European who came to Dominican Republic decades ago and fell in love with this land. We have worked for many years in the tourism industry, Germán as a Hotel Financial Director of the largest resorts in Bavaro and Punta Cana, and Jordi as Director of Tour Operator, Transportation Companies, Aquatic and other Tourism Service Companies focused on preparing the best possible holidays for the thousands of people who visit us every year in this world-class touristic area.

Our extensive professional experience, our deep knowledge of the area and our passion for mountain biking has led to the project we want to present considered probably the best Caribbean Mountain Bike race: the Cemi Route.

To rescue the Taínos culture´s memory (the ancient inhabitants of the island before the arrival of the Spanish conquerors) the Cemí Route takes its name from the word Taínos designated their deities and spirits, among them those of nature. Reason why, in each of the five stages of the Ruta Cemí race, we will honor some of these cemis.

Dreamscapes, mountains, breathtaking ramps, rivers, tropical forests, palm groves, rice fields, pristine beaches, cliffs, autochthonous populations, and endless fields of sugar cane make up the almost four hundred kilometers of the race that runs through the provinces of La Altragracia, Hato Mayor and El Seibo, all of them part of the old chiefdom of Higüey, where the sun rises in the Taino language, and it´s one of the most beautiful areas on the planet.

This is a race that will make you prove yourself, but at the same time will combine the hardness of the route with the accommodation in one of the best hotels in the area, Hotel Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana, a five-star all-inclusive hotel with breakfast, lunch and dinner in extraordinarily well-stocked free buffets, drinks included, entertainment for cyclists and companions, beach, swimming pools, numerous leisure options and luxury rooms to replenish you from the harshness of the race.

We will introduce the team that will make it technically possible, the sponsors who will participate helping us with their background and experience, the stages, tricks to finish this challenge successfully and all the necessary information to bike in which will be, without a doubt, the best Mountain Bike race in the Caribbean.
